Why Choose a NACOSS (NSI Gold) Company ?

Installation

Buying electronic security to secure your premises is a very important decision, whether for domestic or commercial premises. It is essential that the products you choose give the protection you want. It is equally important that the quality of the installation work, and the ongoing service you receive from the installation company, meets proven industry standards.

NSI approves companies in the electronic security sector across the British Isles . This includes the regulation of firms that install and maintain Intruder Alarms.

Insurance

Insurers have been very impressed with the way NSI has raised standards. For domestic installations, many insurers will offer discounts for electronic security systems installed and maintained by a NSI NACOSS GOLD Recognised Firm . Commercial organisations should be aware that insurers often insist on security systems installed and maintained by an NSI Recognised Firm before they will provide cover.

Police

The police acknowledge that NSI Recognised Firms must comply with the requirements set down in the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) unified policy on intruder alarms. An intruder alarm installed by an NSI Recognised Firm may therefore be connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre to summon the police in the event of activation.

THE NSI NACOSS GOLD SCHEME

What is NSI?

NSI is a scheme run by the certification body "National Security Inspectorate". The NSI is responsible for the regulation of electronic security system installers.

NSI is not a trade association . There are no members so firms cannot simply join by paying a fee. NSI works to ensure that the security systems are of the highest quality and reliability. All NSI recognised firms comply with the relevant British standards and the industries own code of practice.

NSI Standards

NSI recognition means a company must:

  • Install and maintain equipment to relevant standards and NSI codes of practice

  • Meet financial criteria to prove the company's financial viability.

  • Have been trading for at least two years.

  • Requires all appropriate personnel to be vetted.

  • Have suitable business premises and vehicles.

  • Provide relevant employees with appropriate training.

  • Provide 24-hour emergency cover.

  • Have company procedures and protocols asessed.

All NSI NACOSS GOLD recognised firms have achieved a system of quality management to the British and international standard BS EN ISO 9001-2000. The award of the NSI NACOSS GOLD certificate of quality assurance demonstrates all of the relevant criteria have been satisfied.

Monitoring NSI recognised firms

To ensure that companies achieving NSI NACOSS GOLD recognition continue to meet the required standards, inspections are conducted on the firm, which normally includes two visits per year, including on-site inspections.
